Chicago Air and Water Show Keeps Flying Onward!

The Chicago Air and Water Show is known as one of the most popular air shows around.

If you haven’t seen jets show off their skills, you will see it at the this Show!

Since it’s inception back in 1959, this air and water show has become one of the most attended attractions in the downtown area.

When the planes start to fly you will know that you are in for a great show!

The show occurs along the north lake shore at North Avenue Beach.

You can also view it from Fullerton street to Oak street.

Huge crowds of over 2 million people are gathered every year to view this show.

The crowds anticipate this yearly event and anticipate the new maneuvers and skills these pilots have up their sleeve.

The show features top military and civilian pilots.

The pilots work in close contact with the FAA and the City of Chicago to ensure a safe show.

They train for many hours to be able to perform at the show in such a high capacity.

The air and water extravaganza occurs every August. It’s a free show and open to the public.

You can bring your chairs, non-alcoholic drinks and enjoy the fun and the view of the planes and the lake shore.

Have you ever seen planes do acrobatics?

At this show you will see air crafts old and new doing different stunts and fly bys.

Some pilots can spiral their planes down so close to the water and then pull it up quickly.

Some are artists and like to make certain designs in the sky with their planes.

You may see helicopters do different maneuvers in the air and with the water.

The show will include the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds.

The U.S. Army parachute team Golden Knights, along with the U.S. Navy parachute team Leap Frogs will be there.

The Chicago Fire Department Air/Sea Rescue unit will be on the water showing you what they do best!

They also have a lot of civilian air crafts.

Some of the other features will include Sean D. Tucker and Team Oracle, USAF B-1B Lancer Bomber, Aeroshell Aerobatic Team, and the Lima Lima Flight crew to name a few!

There’s no set schedule on when each pilot will perform.

It’s determined on the day of the show because of flight conditions.

The day before the show the pilots will be on the Lake Shore practicing.

So if want to catch a sneak peak and avoid the crowds head over there!

Taking Public Transportation is advised. If you must drive you can park in the Millennium Park Garage and take a free shuttle to and from North Avenue beach.
