Chicago Blackhawks Hockey – Not A Boring Moment!

The Chicago Blackhawks Hockey team is a professional ice hockey team located in Chicago, Illinois.They are members of the Central Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL).

This Division was nicknamed the “Blackhawk Division”, after a Native American Chief Blackhawk of the Sauk nation. He was a notable figure in the history of Illinois.

The Blackhawks stats:

    • Won four Stanley Cup championships since their founding in 1926.
  • Most recent championship was in their 2009-10 season.

Their original home was the Chicago Stadium which was also home to the Chicago Bulls.

The Blackhawks new home along with the Chicago Bulls since 1994 is the United Center.

There are notable statues representing the Blackhawks as well as the Chicago Bulls outside the United Center.

The United Center is the largest arena in the United States.

The construction of it started in April of 1992 and the ribbon cutting ceremony was on August 18, 1994.

The United Center is located on 45 acres, one mile west of Chicago’s Loop and I-90/94 Kennedy Expressway, and four blocks North of I-290 Eisenhower Expressway at Damen Ave. (Exit 28A).

Since it’s opening in 1994, the United Center has hosted over 200 events each year and over twenty million guests.

Some of the notable events that were hosted was the 1996 Democratic National Convention.

Concerts have occurred there including the The Rolling Stones.

This stadium is also huge and helped revitalize the businesses in the area when it was built.

Many other events such as the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus and Disney on Ice is also held there.

The Chicago Blackhawks Hockey season starts in October and ends in April.
