The Chicago Marathon Is For Runners And Spectators Alike

The First in Chicago Marathon occurred on Saturday, September 23, 1905.

The Bank of America Chicago Marathon is a major marathon held every year in Chicago, Illinois.

The participants are in the thousands and it is a very huge and world renowned race.

Many new visitors to Chicago enter the marathon every year.

Over 10,000 of the runners in 2010 indicated it was their first visit to Chicago.

This marathon is one of the five World Marathon Majors including London, New York, Boston and Berlin.

However this running event is one of America’s most important marathons, and one of the fastest growing marathon road races in the world.

The race is very distinguished and it has relationships with sponsors that provide prize money to help lure elite runners.

These runners have American and world record performances.

Chicago has fast and flat courses which promotes runners pursuing their best personal records and world record performances.

You don’t have to be a seasoned runner to participate.

There isn’t a qualifying time to participate.

If you finish within 6½ hours you will be officially timed.

The race allows 45,000 runners on a first-come basis.

So sign up as soon as possible in advance of the race! The marathon course is a loop course.

It race starts and ends at Grant Park.

The route goes through north Chicago neighborhoods, west side and through the South side before it returns to Grant Park.

The course winds through 29 of the city’s neighborhoods. You will be able to see Wrigley Field near the north.

The United Center to the west, and the US Cellular Field to the south.

The course gives a spectacular view of the city.

There are 20 aid stations. These stations are about 1–3 miles from each other, so there is plenty of support for the runners.

Medical staff is also available at each of the stations.

Ambulatory services are in scattered throughout the course.

There is also the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K. The 8K (4.97-mile) run starts and finishes in Chicago’s Grant Park.

The race date is Sunday April 7, 2013. Start Time 8:30 a.m and 9:15 a.m.

The Chicago 13.1 Marathon is another marathon that starts and finishes at the Historic South Shore Cultural Center on Chicago’s south side.

This marathon is also friendly to walkers where the course remains open for 3 hours and 30 minutes.

It will be held Sunday, September 8, 2013 7:00 AM @ Jackson Park, S. Lake Shore Drive & 63rd Street 5700 S. Lake Shore Drive Chicago, IL.

You’ll be able to run on Lake Shore Drive. There will be course support also. So if you’re considering being a spectator or participant in a Chicago Marathon come on board.
